Welcome to week five of the Christian Author Bootcamp! This is a ten week book promotion blitz created to help you whip your publicity plan into shape. This week your task is creating a speaking sheet. As an author you are most likely an expert in something. As an expert you have an opportunity to take part in speaking engagements that not only allow you to share your expertise but also to promote your book.
Remember to include a brief bio, information about your book, contact details and a few options for topics you are willing to approach. Here is an example of a speaking sheet for author Mimi K.

LifePoint Church in Greenville, South Carolina is launching a donation drive to help Christian charities currently serving in Haiti. Relatives of one of LifePoint’s members operate the Jean Cadet Restavek Foundation, a group that serves some of the estimated 300,000 Haitian children enslaved in child labor. The organization’s founder, a former Haitian slave, is currently in Haiti along with several other staffers working to bring relief to the poor people he serves in the wake of the recent earthquake. This donation drive will also support the First Haitian Evangelical Wesleyan Church in Mauldin which needs supplies to send to Haiti. To aid these organizations’ efforts, LifePoint Church is asking the Greenville community to donate the following:
Baby Food
Baby Formula
Non-perishable Food Items
Blankets
All donations may be dropped off at Christian publishing house Ambassador International, located at 427 Wade Hampton Blvd, on the corner of Chick Springs Road, across from CVS. Items will be collected from January 25 until February 5. Donations may be dropped off Monday through Friday between 9am-5pm or on Saturday from 10am-2pm.
This Sunday hundreds of Christian authors, publishers, literary agents, and retailers will descend on Denver, Colorado for the 60th annual International Christian Retail Show. For a complete list of those registered to attend visit ChristianRetailShow.com. Christian Publishing Tips will be there to bring you the news and highlights of the event. Visit CPT throughout July 12-15 for exclusive details of this year’s International Christian Retail Show.
When Brian Golter wrote his book Your Right Job Right Now, he had no idea how needed and timely it would be. His book, released this month by Ambassador International, is a survival guide for the new job market. It’s not only a great read for those on the job hunt, but also for those feeling like they’re not reaching the full potential God has in mind for them with their current job. Today Brian joins us to explain why he wrote the book, and how his mission changed as the economy changed.
**Keep reading for your chance to WIN Brian’s new book!**
When I wrote this book in 2008, I was writing to those rare individuals who wish to see their careers as an opportunity to transform themselves. To overcome their deep-rooted fears and inadequacies, and become the man or woman they had always dreamed of being. It was a book about turning fear into courage, mistrust into trust and inadequacy into confidence.
But as the saying goes, “that was then and this is now”. Since the time I completed this manuscript, we have entered into one of the most difficult job markets in modern history. This book is no longer for rare individuals. It has become a survival guide for the new job market. Understanding how to bring your absolute best to the job market is no longer a luxury. It has become a necessity.
The old rules simply no longer apply. If you’re looking for a job, it’s no longer enough to get on the computer, send out your resume and expect to get a job. The days of just “showing up” to the interview and getting an attractive offer are over.
Quite simply, if you are experiencing a lack of motivation, enthusiasm or confidence, you are not going to find the job you want. No, faking won’t help you either. In this market, employers have their choice of hundreds of candidates. Of course, they will eliminate people on the traditional criteria: by experience, skills and salary. But what most job seekers don’t realize is just how large a role expectations, confidence, risk-taking and attitude play in getting the job they want. They play a larger role than education and experience. This has always been true. Today’s serious candidates have to pay attention to those deep places in themselves: those places that determine how other people experience them. The days of covering up the real you and still getting what you want are slowly but surely coming to an end.
For those of you willing to do the work of overcoming your fears and inadequacies, there is a silver lining. And what a wonderful silver lining it is! It’s truly a new day in which you can reach for what you know is true and rewarding. A day in which you can no longer get away with, or be rewarded for, the very things you don’t like about yourself. A day when you can become the man or woman God designed you to be.
For those of you who refuse to take up this challenge, it could just be the death sentence of your career. It’s time to get real and dig deep. To use the adversity you are experiencing to become so honest with yourself, so humble, that you will get the right job, right now.

Esther: Reflections of an Unexpected Life
A remnant of Jews living in a heathen country . . .
A young orphan being raised by her God-fearing cousin . . .
A self absorbed king in search of a new queen . . .
A Jewish woman rising to the throne of Persia . . .
A book of the Bible which makes no mention to the name of God . . .
Random? Surprising? Chance? Maybe at first glance, but upon closer study of Esther’s life, you’ll find that nothing is unexpected to the God who knows the beginning from the end.
Through easily applicable Biblical truths, interwoven with personal and heartfelt stories, Jennifer brings a contemporary relevance to Esther’s extraordinary story. Join Esther on her journey to the throne of Persia and beyond. You’ll not only discover what powerful deeds God was able to accomplish through the unexpected turns that her life took — you’ll discover what He desires to do in the unexpected turns in your life today!
Knowing God Through Prayer
Knowing God through Prayer—the Plan Jesus Gave is a study of the world’s most famous prayer, the Lord’s Prayer (also known as the Model Prayer or Our Father), based on the premise that Jesus would not have told us to pray a prayer that didn’t work, but that each line of the prayer was meant to bring about answered prayer and real communication with God. Real-life examples of answered prayer illustrate the practical truths found in Jesus’ words. A Prayer Guide is included to “jump-start” the reader’s prayer life.
Songs of the Vineyard
This little book of meditations on Isaiah is about history: past, present, and future. It is about people, Jews and Gentiles, and it is about God and our relationship to Him. It is a book of judgment and apocalyptic themes as well as care and restoration. It is a book of facts and principles that can be applied to our lives. It is my hope and prayer that it will stimulate your heart, mind, and soul to seek out the Word of God to have an even closer relationship with Christ.

Three Men of Destiny
They were a gallant and fearless trio of men, hewn from the same genealogical and cultural stick that was rooted back across the Atlantic Ocean in lowland Scotland and in north-east Ireland (the province of Ulster) a century and more before they were born as first American citizens in what was then the outer ring of the Western frontier.
The families of all three, folk with antecedents in lowland Scotland, had taken the arduous and dangerous passage across the Atlantic from Ulster in the mid-18th century in the daunting quest for freedom and a new life and opportunity in the American colonies.
How truly remarkable it was that from this momentous trail-blazing emigration journey, that within a very short period of time, the Jackson, Houston and Crockett names were being carved with enormous pride across this great expanse of land that stretches from sea to shining sea in the United States of America.
